THE ZEBRA
- Zebras are social animals that live in herds.
- The most abundant species is the plains zebra (or Burchell). They live in small family groups consisting of a male, several females and their offspring. These units can be combined with others to form spectacular flocks of thousands of individuals, but family members are held together within the herd.
- Zebras must be vigilant at all times to avoid hyenas and lions. In a herd many eyes to detect danger. If an animal is attacked, his family come to their defense, circling the wounded zebra and attempting to repel predators.
- Zebras live about 25 years, are between 1 and 1.5 m and weigh between 200 and 450 kg
